Route description

The VU buildings are all situated around a central campus square. You can find the route descriptions for car and public transport below. See also the VU website for accessibility of the VU Campus: Route description VU.

Public transport

With the nearby train station Amsterdam Zuid, the North/South metro line , as well as the metro lines 50 and 51, tram lines 5, 24 and 25 and busses with stops near the Main Building, the VU Campus is easily accessible with public transportation.

It is a 10 minute walk from Station Zuid to the VU.

Car

The A10 Amsterdam ring road can be reached from all directions. Follow the A10 to the Zuid/Amstelveen exit S 108. Turn left at the end of the slip road onto Amstelveenseweg: after about three hundred yards (at VU hospital building) turn left again onto De Boelelaan. VU Amsterdam can be reached via city routes S 108 and S 109.

Parking

There is a limited amount of parking space around Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam itself in De Boelelaan, which has parking bays, and also in Gustav Mahlerllaan. There is paid parking on VU Amsterdam parking lot to the right of the Hospital Outpatient Clinic. There is even more parking space on the east side of Buitenveldertselaan at the junction with Willem van Weldammelaan, within 5 minutes walking distance of VU Amsterdam. A number of parking places for people with a disability are reserved in front of Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam Main Building.

Schiphol Airport

Travellers arriving at Schiphol Airport and go directly to the VU can take the train of travel with the bus.

Bus

1. Bus 341 (it stops at the Amsterdam UMC VUMC medical center, 20 minutes and 5min walk to VU main building)
2. Bus 397 (it stops at the Amstelveenseweg, approx. 20 minutes and 15-20 min walk to the VU main building)

Train

The NS (railway company) servicedesk is situated at Schiphol Airport. From the airport to the VU is approximately 10 minutes by train (train station Amsterdam Zuid) and then a walk of approximately 15 minutes.
